Egyptology

Clint is learning about early civilizations in school, and all of the students were encouraged to do some extra credit projects at home. Clint brought home a list of projects that have to do with Egypt. We chose projects that we could get the highest amounts of points for...so we would have to do fewer projects...not because we are over-achievers. Pictured above is an Egyptian Boat, An Egyptian Board Game, an Egyptian Plow (attached to 2 of Derek's Dinosaurs after we failed to make cows out of play-dough...we tried), A Pyramid, made out of cardboard with sandpaper bricks glued to it, A coffin with eyes, and a mummy.
We asked our neighbor to donate an old Barbie to be our Mummy. But she was too big to fit in our coffin. As we agonized over what to do about it, I decided to chop off Barbie's feet at the ankles so she could fit. I don't know why this seems so horrific to me. I was telling my friend how horrible I felt about chopping poor Barbie's feet off. I felt bad enough when I shaved her head. My friend said "well, no one is playing with her anymore, and you could replace Barbie if your neighbor ever wants her back". But that was not really what was troubling me. I do appreciate my neighbor for donating her old used Barbie, but what was really bothering me, was that I think I have just seen Toy Story a few too many times...

Sorry Barbie!

I have to agree that you guys are over achievers, thats a lot of extra credit work. But it all looks really cute so good job. And don't feel silly about feeling bad for Barbie I used to always cover up all my stuffed animals at night cause i didn't want them to get cold. I think it's good that you felt bad it means your still young :)

WHAT!!? You chopped off Barbie's feet?? What will she do in the after-life...did you at least put them in a jar and store them with her organs? JK

Those projects are WAY cool. I'm actually looking forward to helping Michael with his Egypt projects. (However...I think Marian would keel over before allowing us to 'mummify' one of her Barbies.)

Cool projects.

I would worry about Barbie's feet, they were bound to fall off...have seen how high her heels are...wait too high...

Good job! Those look awesome. How fun to work on cool projects. We have those same dinosaurs- at first I thought you broke into my house and stole them. ha ha.

Love how he got EVERY extra point possible! I tried to donate some materials but Jeff refused. PS It's Jeff's Birthday tomorrow, what age would he be turning? his answer of 30 just isn't working anymore. :)

You are so creative, and such a good supportive mom, I'm sure Jeff helped too so tell him I said he's a great Dad. Also tell him Happy Birthday, and that I love him for being a good brother-in-law and for being so sweet and loving to you.
